There is definitely an element of excitement in the air as we move a little bit closer to rugby being back on the television. As a group, we have been desperate to get 2021 off to a flying start and hopefully we can do that away at Kingsholm.
5 weeks away from competition has given us a chance to go back to the drawing board and focus on ourselves in preparation for the return of the Gallagher Premiership. Our strength and conditioning coaches have put us through our paces ensuring we are prepared for the week ahead. On Friday we set up an in-house training game, consisting of two evenly split teams. This enabled us to run our plays against each other, along with conditioning our bodies to get used to contact again. It’s amazing after a few weeks away from competition how quickly your body adapts. It was great fun to get back out there are the Gardens!
As James mentioned last week, it was a kick in the teeth to have both the Leicester and European games cancelled due to Covid. However, it’s important as a club we control the virus within the playing group to ensure we keep playing games. We want to give ourselves the best opportunity to win games and get the points on offer.
Away from rugby, my girlfriend and I have been working our renovating our new home. It’s been a fun project and we are not far away from moving in. It’s our first house together and although agreeing on certain things has proved harder than I imagined …we are still speaking which is a good sign!
I hope everyone enjoyed a weekend of snow.
