5 weeks ago, we were starting to get a bit of normality back. 2000 fans were welcomed at the Gardens to witness a game against Bordeaux in the Champions cup. Now, we are back behind closed doors in lockdown with speculation as to whether the Champions cup will continue.
The last few weeks have been a real frustration for everyone involved at the Gardens. Due to some positive test results Franklin’s Garden was completely shut down along with the derby game against Leicester Tigers cancelled. Meaning as players we haven’t played a game in over two weeks.
2020 was a tough year for us as a group. We struggled to find our form and produce the wins we would have hoped for. We are desperate to get 2021 off to a flying start. Everyone in the
playing department and behind the scenes are doing everything they can to ensure when we step foot back on the pitch, we are able to build on the Worcester victory 3 weeks ago.
Away from rugby, it has been a time for me to go back to the drawing board and focus on things away from the game. Currently I am in the process of renovating a house in Northampton which
has bought much enjoyment and learning. It’s my girlfriend and mine’s first house together and although agreeing on certain things in the house has proved harder than I thought it would, we
are still speaking which is a good sign.
Next week, brings Leinster to Franklin’s gardens which sets up for a huge game. Any time we welcome Leinster we know what they are about and how dangerous they can be. For us, we will
be making sure we prepare well to ensure after two weeks away from competition, we are firing. Hopefully getting 2021 off to the flying start we hope for.
Thank you to every supporter who has shown their faith and belief in us as a group through tough times. 2021 is a big year, and we hope we can have you back at the gardens soon.
