A long four weeks
As we all know by now, Covid can strike at any time and it doesn’t discriminate. Just because you have a local derby against Leicester at Franklin’s gardens at the weekend, doesn’t mean it will let you off! Unfortunately.
As we geared up to take on our mates from down the Welford road, we were hit by covid. A handful of players came down with the illness and it meant that disappointingly we had to forfeit the game. Premiership rugby has changed the points system this season due to covid. If you are the team that has to cancel a game you get two points and the other team gets 4. I think this season will be about who can cope best with the virus and have the least amount of games called off! Fingers crossed this will be the only one we are held accountable for.
Another kick in the teeth was European rugby postponing the next two rounds of the champions cup! This is due to the french government not allowed foreign teams to enter the country and tour. This means we get two more weeks off. The strength and conditioning coaches at the club are working flat out to try and keep us all in the right shape and prepared to play a full match of rugby. Something that is quite difficult to do and it will result in us having to play a training game to keep the contact level up. Which will be good fun! I think everyone is missing playing and I know fans are missing watching.
Away from rugby I have been completing a property course for life after rugby! This has been keeping me busy during the period of no games. Property is something I’m really interested in and something I have started to look at in more depth. Hopefully all being well I can complete this course over the next couple of months and continue to develop my understanding of the property world.
I hope everyone is keeping healthy and safe. We will all be at the gardens once again soon.
