On the board

Pre season games finally came to an end with a win against a tough Glasgow team. With a near full strength team in preparation for Gloucester it was good to be out there with the boys having a run about on the hallowed Franklin’s gardens turf! I was only meant to play 20 minuted due to Dan Biggar playing but with him going off injured 5 minutes in I ended up playing near enough a full game! It’s fair to say my lungs definitely felt it!!

We moved onto the first game of the new Gallagher Premiership! Away at Gloucester in front of the notorious Shed! One of the hardest places to go away from home and win. To give you a taste, if you drop the ball donkey noises ring round the stadium, if you miss a kick donkey noises ring round the stadium and when they get on top it’s very hard to keep them quiet! We started quite slowly giving away a few penalties and Gloucester took the points, before then going to the corner and scoring a driving maul. We managed to get on the board, then a bit of brilliance from Ahsee Tuala meant we scored a try of our own. Back in the game. Unfortunately for us our discipline wasn’t up to scratch and Billy Twelvetrees kicked his team to victory. We thought we’d scored with the last play but it was disallowed and we left Kingsholm with 0 points. Not the ideal start.

We then headed back to Franklin’s Gardens on Friday night against Harlequins, a team that heavily beat sale sharks the weekend before. Today was a different outcome. A  much better display in defence with our discipline being improved significantly lead to a 25-18 win. The gardens faithful was in full force as usual and we held on with some try line defence at the end. The best way to win a tight game!!

This weekend we are back at the gardens once more to face our old foe Saracens. Always a tough encounter but one that we are massively excited about! A hard weeks training in preparation begins.

Have a great week, and thank you for all your continued support!
