The James Grayson Blog
2 more to go
As I eluded to in the previous blog, I have spent the past 2 and half weeks in the south of France playing in the Junior World Championship. The weather has been beautiful and the pool stages of the tournament have gone as smoothly as planned.
We kicked off by playing against Argentina in Narbonne. Kick off was at 4:30 and the weather was lovely. Nice and warm but not too hot! I started the game at fly half and played 65 minutes! The first half was a slightly scrappy affair with Argentina scoring off our mistakes, but in the second half we pulled away and got the job done.
Our second game was against Italy in Perpignan. Another 4:30 kick off but this time overcast with a little rain in the air. I didn’t play any part in this fixture, but the boys ran out comfortable winners. A few early tries and Italy looked down and out before half time. Another solid performance.
Our third game came against our old pals Scotland. Having lost to them in the six nations it was a must win for us to restore some national pride. Having already qualified for the semi finals this was potentially a bit of a banana skin. We started well but with a yellow card for myself Scotland kept touch. In the second half we pulled away and ended up being comfortable winners.
We qualified as top seeds which is a great achievement, but the job is only half done and the business end of the campaign starts now. We play South Africa tonight back in Narbonne. They are a big physical team who beat us earlier in the season. But we have got some momentum and are feeling confident! It’s all set to be a cracker. I will let you know how we get on in the next blog. If you are interested in watching it will be on ITV 4 at 18:00 GMT.
Thank you for all your support. As always it means so much. Have a good week.
