After a relatively successful Anglo Welsh break, winning one but coming out top of our pool due to bonus points, it was time to get on the road and travel to play against Worcester. A game that as a squad we had targeted to put us back up in the top four and get our season back on track. A solid week’s training and preparation saw us head into the game with confidence and a real belief we could get 5 points against the bottom of the table side. This however was not to be. A Worcester side with Francois Hougghard back from injury, came flying out the blocks and blew us away in all aspects of the game. We struggled to insert our dominance up front in the scrum and line out which we pride ourselves on and we were tactically off the pace. When you travel to a team like Worcester you have got to be super disciplined and even more accurate. They live off scraps and your mistakes, and as we found out once they get their tails up its a very difficult place to come back from.
This performance or result doesn’t define our season by any stretch of the imagination. If anyone thinks that a premiership season goes without any bumps in the road then they are wrong. The great thing with rugby is you’ve always got next week to right your wrongs. We get that chance when we travel to Sale this week. Another tough place to go, but we will be going there with intentions to come away with a win and put ourselves back in the mix. Time to pick ourselves up and get a win on the road.
As always thank you for your support, have a great week.
