Labour To Get Tough on Energy Firms

Energy firm licenses could be removed by a new regulator under a labour government to help protect public interests.

The “broken energy market” would be penalised if licence conditions are repeatedly broken harming consumers says shadow energy and climate change secretary Caroline Flint. “The public have a right to be treated fairly by energy companies” and the fines imposed by regulator’s cannot be continued to be regarded as a cost of doing business no longer and the proposals will therefore act as a “warning to get their act together” she continues.
