Barclays to shed up to 1.7k of branch staff in 2014

Blaming a rise in the number of customers using mobile banking, Barclays say “ we will be able to provide better service for customers with fewer staff in our branches” and has initiated a redundancy scheme for the planned reduction in 2014.
