Lack of online presence hurts Morrisons’ sales
Unlike its major rivals, a lack of online deliveries has meant a 2.4% like-for-like decline in sales for the quarter ending to November for the 4th largest UK supermarket by revenue.
From January 2014, Morrisons is set to roll out their online delivery service through a partnership with internet grocer Ocado. Starting in Warwickshire, Morrsions hopes to cover 50% of households by the end of the year.
Elsewhere the supermarket chain looks to continue expanding its ‘M Local’ convenience stores with another 100 openings in the 2014-15 financial year.
